Products : Timber Frames

Right across the UK, more people are choosing timber frame than any other building system. Most of the top 25 companies and virtually all self-builders now use the system. More and more people are finding out what it is like to enjoy living in a timber frame home.

Nowadays all new buildings have to conform to new thermal efficiency standards. But, because wood is such a good natural insulator, enhancing the efficiency standards of the insulation materials, timber frame buildings have been meeting or exceeding these standards for years. They are also more comfortable to live in; thanks to the excellent insulation of the structural shell, the whole home heats up more quickly, without any cold areas. Better insulation, hand-in-hand with detailed draught-proofing, means smaller boiler, lower heating bills and a cosier, more comfortable home.

Precious little has changed in the way masonry houses have been built over the years. They rely on the skills of a dwindling number of craftsmen working on messy sites in all weathers. Timber frame homes, on the other hand, are precision-engineered under factory conditions, doing away with many of the building processes traditionally done on-site.

Room dimensions are more accurate too - useful when your fitting a kitchen or a carpet. A dry plasterboard lining system is used, rather than wet plaster, allowing decoration to be carried out as soon as the house is finished and eliminating the need to make good where shrinkage of the plaster has occurred

As the market for timber frames is ever changing, we can now offer two specifications in our timber frames. Developer specification, which is not only very cost effective but has a quick turn around to suit all development needs. Further information available on request.

Self build specification which is tailored more around the individual one off design that is needed, this specification is more suited to the customer's that are looking for a complete package in their purchase of a timber frame, which can include roof covering, valley boards, fascia and soffit which is fully finished, fully glazed and fitted windows and doors. The options are endless.

Both specifications are available and all our quotation is based on an individual basis, which can include as much or as little as is required
